Students Jun-Ren Chang and You-Cheng Lin win the Gold Award in the Furniture Design Category at the 2026 Sen Award for their work,「Blooming Resilience」. Faculty Advisors: Hao-Jhe Li, I-Jui Lee, and Tien-Li Chen
Based on the spatial analysis of the Beitou Library, this project explores how public furniture can create a warm, inclusive experience through the tactile quality of wood. Inspired by Taiwan’s native Yushan Rhododendron, the design integrates Bloom, Resilience, and Order. The form curves inward like a bud for natural enclosure. Structurally, it relies entirely on laminated bentwood without metal components, ensuring durability through pure craftsmanship. To enable mass production, the "Homogeneous Form, Reduced Process" strategy shares one curve between the seat and legs, minimizing mold costs. The fully disassemblable structure allows independent repairs. BLOOM & RESILIENCE rejects superficial eco-friendliness, delivering honest material sustainability.
